  • Silver Lake Market

    Silver Lake Market in Port Dover is a weekly farmers’ market that brings local vendors and producers together every Saturday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm at 320 St. Patrick Street, beside Silver Lake. The market features a diverse selection of offerings from long-standing and seasonal vendors. Shoppers can find fresh baked goods, meats, eggs, cheese, smoked trout, fruit, vegetables, prepared foods, kettle corn, jams, craft beer and more, all from small local businesses. There’s a cozy spot called Walt’s Place Kitchen where visitors can enjoy a fresh breakfast or lunch along with a hot cup of coffee or tea while browsing the stalls. The market’s mix of quality food and friendly atmosphere makes it a popular Saturday destination for both residents and visitors alike. Free parking is convenient, and the market’s location near Silver Lake adds to the relaxed weekend vibe. It is a place where community and commerce meet, with vendors showcasing products that reflect the region’s agricultural roots and artisanship.     Please join us for a fun and educational event and learn when/what to do when you come across sick, injured or orphaned wildlife.

    This annual workshop is just in time for wildlife baby season. it will teach when wildlife needs help, but also when they don't.

    This event is free so that anyone can afford to attend but donations are welcome.

    This event is for age 16 and over.

    The 2nd International Haldimand Women’s Day Brunch returns on Sunday, March 8, 2026, bringing together women from across the community for an afternoon of connection, conversation, and celebration. Held at the Dunnville Community Lifespan Centre, this event marks International Women’s Day with a welcoming space to share stories, ideas, and encouragement.

    Doors open at 12:00 pm, followed by an affordable brunch served at 1:00 pm. Attendees can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere featuring guest speakers, presentations, local vendors, prizes, and opportunities to connect with other women from Haldimand County and beyond.

    This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” focuses on the idea that generosity strengthens everyone involved. By sharing time, knowledge, mentorship, opportunities, and support, women can lift one another while also growing personally and professionally. The event highlights real experiences of growth, leadership, and success, with speakers and workshops to be announced closer to the date.

    Whether you attend to network, learn, support local initiatives, or simply enjoy a meaningful afternoon with inspiring women, the Haldimand Women’s Day Brunch offers a positive and inclusive way to recognize International Women’s Day.     General Skating Guidelines
    Unless otherwise specified, the following guidelines apply to all skating programs:

    1. All participants – must respect and abide by posted signs and cooperate with arena staff. Rules are modelled after Ontario Recreation Facilities Association Inc. Public Skating Guidelines (Sept. 2018).

    2. Parents/Guardians – must be within sight and control of their children under 12 years. Do not leave children unattended.

    3. Use of Helmets – CSA-approved hockey helmets are mandatory during skating programs with sticks and pucks on the ice, and must include facial protection for those under 18 years. Helmets are strongly recommended in all other programs

    4. Keeping pace – maintain reasonable control of your speed, course and direction. Do not skate in groups. Do not stop where you obstruct other skaters. Accept responsibility for knowing the range of your ability while on skates; skate within the limit of that ability and as appropriate to the session in which you’re skating.

    5. Food & Beverage Consumption – is permitted in the arena lobby and
    spectator seating area only.

    6. Games, Hockey Games, and Hockey Sticks – no games are to be played at any time that will endanger the safety and the enjoyment of others. This includes horseplay, hockey games, and the use of hockey sticks.

    7. Shoes – ice skates required, no street shoes on ice.

    8. Skating Aids – only permitted during the Beginner Skate.

    9. Wheelchair Sledges – wheelchairs and sledges are welcome. Individuals using these devices must travel in the same direction as other skaters. Attendants/helpers are welcome to assist however, they must wear skates or ice cleats on the ice surface.

    10. Technology – headsets, cell phones, cameras, or other handheld electronic devices are not to be used while skating.

    11. Carrying of infants/children – children must not be carried by any means (such as on shoulders, in arms, or any carrier, etc.) while on the ice.

    12. Sitting on Boards – patrons may not sit on the rink boards at any time.

    13. Figure Skating – figure skating maneuvers are only permitted during open figure skate.

    14. Chairs, Sleds, Strollers, and Pylons – are not permitted on the ice surface.

    Saturday, March 14: Hamilton Naturalist Club - Learn about Hamilton's local plants and animals with the Hamilton Naturalists' Club through fun, hands-on activities for all ages. Visit the booth to try the "Would This Help Wildlife?" habitat sorting game, "Design a Pollinator Paradise" to share with your friends and test your knowledge with interactive trivia, all while discovering simple ways to support biodiversity in your own backyard!

    Monday, March 16: Hamilton Water - Children and parents will explore how toilets and sewers work in Hamilton while learning about the 3Ps — pee, poo and toilet paper — the only things that should be flushed! Through a fun, hands-on activity, families will discover how flushing wipes and other garbage can clog pipes, cause sewer backups and harm local waterways.

     

    Tuesday, March 17: Hamilton Waste Management - The Waste Management team will be on site to answer your questions and share educational materials on how to properly sort waste in your household. Stop by to play fun games and win prizes while you learn.
    Wednesday, March 18: Hamilton Forestry - Visit the Forestry Edition of Discovery days! Young explorers can dig into the wonders of trees through hands-on activities and outdoor adventures. Participate in a guided tree walk, interactive invasive species game or sensory seed activity. Visitors can even create their own pollinator seed bomb or take home a seedling. Connect with nature while learning how trees grow and thrive.

     

    Thursday, March 19: Hamilton Forestry - Forestry will be teaching the value of trees, proper potting techniques and planting instructions. There will be a crane truck and stumper, the operator will demonstrate crane operation and describe how the stumper grinds stumps, they will also have a log for participants to guess how old the tree is.

     

    Friday, March 20: Hamilton Traffic - Traffic Signal specialists and Roadway Safety representatives will be on site to provide engaging, hands-on educational experiences focused on transportation infrastructure. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about traffic signs, signals, pavement markings and important roadway safety initiatives designed to keep our communities safe and connected.

     

    Saturday, March 21 The Children’s Garden Project - Visit The Children’s Garden Project Canada Activation Centre featuring Let’s Get Growing Series and Paper Botanicals. Families can plant seeds, learn propagation basics and jump into hands-on gardening fun while exploring simple, kid-friendly lessons in environmental stewardship and how tiny seeds grow into thriving gardens.

     

    Saturday, March 21: Hamilton Dundurn - Budding Scientists, Grow Your Own Berry Bush! Dive into the science of Spring while bringing dormant branches to life! Participants will explore buds and baby leaves with a variety of sprouting fruit trees and bushes from Dundurn’s Historic Kitchen Garden. Learn about how to create a whole new berry patch from just a little piece of wood. Participants will take home a red currant cutting to root up and care for.

     

    Sunday, March 22: Hamilton Civic Museums - Explore children's pastimes of yesteryear and make connections between the past and present with fun and educational hands-on activities! Learn about old tools used on the farm and in the home for the past 200 years, then get creative at our crafting table.

    The Great Soup Share is a community-driven event focused on giving back. Guests can sample a variety of soups from local restaurants while supporting an important cause. All proceeds and food donations are donated directly to our local food bank.

    Thanks to the incredible support from our community and participating restaurants, we raised over $4,000 last year—and we’re hoping to beat that total in 2026!

    The Polar Plunge is BACK – are you ready to get #FreezinForAReason?
    Please join us for the 3rd Annual Polar Plunge in Haldimand County!

    We will be once again plunging at the Haldimand OPP detachment in the rear parking lot, and look forward to seeing people from the community that are returning plungers and welcoming new plungers too!

    Registration begins at 12:00pm.

    An indoor washroom and warming area will be available. Refreshments will also be provided at the event and we hope to have an appearance from the infamous "Plungie" mascot.

    Registration is $40, or you can “fundraise to waive” your personal registration.

    If you are plunging as a team, all members of the team must register individually, choosing to join your team as they register.

    Whether you are an individual, organization or business, the Polar Plunge welcomes everyone with a little courage and a warm heart willing to take the plunge!

    All funds raised will support programming and events for 23,000 athletes across the province.

  • Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs

    Celebrate Easter with Your Furry Friend!

    National Service Dogs’ Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs is a family event that includes your fur baby.
    We invite you to join the celebration on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, in the Ontario cities of Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, London, Windsor, Hamilton and Calgary, Alberta. Together, we will empower children with autism and restore independence to veterans and first responders living with Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD).

    How Does the EASTER EGG HUNT Work?
    Thousands of colourful eggs are filled with prize tokens and a dog treat, which are hidden over a defined area of the local park. Participants (dogs with the assistance of their humans) will hunt, collect eggs and retrieve prizes from the collected eggs.

    Registration is required for the HUNT only.  All other activities are free.  Come out and join in the fun and excitement at Gourley as we celebrate our 15th Easter in the Park with a bunch of Easter themed activities, Games, Crafts and an Easter Egg Hunt. There will be a Petting Zoo, Bounce Castle, Inflatable Obstacle Course, the Easter Bunny and other mascots have confirmed their attendance for those Kodak moments.  Cats Claws Face painting and so much more. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase, cash only.   • Boats in the Park

    Visit the Steam Museum for a weekend of boat-themed family fun! The Museum is pleased to welcome back the Confederation Marine Modellers as they demonstrate a variety of radio-controlled model boats in the park. Visitors can check out the boats sailing on our miniature pond, catch a ride on a miniature train provided by the Golden Horseshoe Live Steamers, take a tour of the museum, and create some boat-themed crafts in our hands-on activity area. Come out and celebrate Hamilton’s boat building history!
