Tuesday 09 September 2025
Preceding Day Tuesday 09 September 2025 Following Day
  • Fall Bird Banding

As the trees light up with reds and golds, Ruthven Park becomes a quiet stopover for birds on their long journey south. Early in the morning, you might spot volunteers gently banding tiny warblers and sparrows, checking their feathers, and sending them safely on their way. It’s peaceful, a little bit magical, and a great way to feel connected to the rhythm of the season. If you visit, bring a warm jacket, a thermos of something hot, and a bit of patience—you never know what birds might show up next.

    Sept 1st - Nov 7th

    Tuesdays - Thursdays: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    Saturdays & Sundays: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: Spencer Smith Park – Burlington, Ontario

    Burlington/Halton Walk of Hope

    9 am Registration

    9:45 am – Speeches

    10:00 am - Walk starts

Survivors will share their stories about ovarian cancer.

The Burlington Pier will be lit in Teal at night in honour of Ovarian cancer

Today, one in five women in Canada will die from the disease and 3,000 women will be diagnosed this year. Survival rates have not changed for ovarian cancer in 60 years. Ovarian Cancer Canada is the only charity in Canada to direct all attention and fundraising towards improving and saving the lives of people with ovarian cancer. Held annually during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in September, this family-friendly event raises vital funds to power ovarian cancer research, provide education and resources, and fuel advocacy efforts across Canada.

There will be approximately 150-200 people attending the Walk in Burlington.
